The PCCI- Conference of Provincial Councils of India held a seminar for the heads of the schools and colleges of the Provinces of India from 16 -19August 2015.The Province of St. Francis Xavier India- Centre was honoured to host this Educators’ Meet. The venue of this unique gathering was Gyan Niketan Spirituality Centre, Desur – Belgaum. The sisters from the three Provinces and South East Delegation of India spent four days together as one Canossian family in a spirit of joy and sisterly affection. It was indeed a unique occasion for meeting sisters from the other provinces, novitiate/mid-term Juniorate/Tertianship companions after several years! The 50 Canossian Educatuors from various parts of India had an enjoyable time in Gyan Niketan.Sr. Josemary Keelath, the provincial of the Centre Province addressed the gathering and set the tone for the seminar with her enriching words.

The purpose of this seminar was to introspect, evaluate and renew our ministry of Education in the current Indian context as Consecrated Canossian Educators. Our former congregational leader, Sr. Margaret Peter animated the participants with her inspiring and thought provoking sessions focusing on Magdalene of Canossa, the Educator. She stressed upon the need to take concrete steps in our Educational Institutions to ensure integrated Education/ formation of heart and to include the spirituality of encounter as an experience to all.

The Power Point Presention of the Education Ministry in the three provinces and delegation was mutually enriching experience. Although the Canossian Charism is felt in all our schools there is a call to change, to broaden our vision and to be innovative. The session on Catholic Education Policy in India by Sr. Audrey D’Souza enlightened the participants on issues such as religious tolerance, formation of youth, family visits, media analysis, JPIC, child rights and human rights etc.

The serene spiritual moments, enthralling evenings, hilarious recreations and pleasant visits to the Canossian communities in Belgaum Diocese have filled the Participants with indelible memories of PCCI Educators’ Meet.
